V-MAX® HEARTCHECK (TM)

INSTRUCTIONS

The V-MAX Equine Heart Rate Monitor HEARTCHECK is used on the horse without a saddle . The purpose of the HEARTCHECK is to provide for heart rate monitoring at a vet check or in a stall.

The unit is a one piece hand-held transmitter mounted on an aluminum handle. You must use a heart rate receiver watch such as any of the V-MAX EHRM Systems. We recommend a model with an 'ON' trigger button. We prefer the V-MAX BASIC receiver.

The battery is user changeable.

VET-CHECK or STALL APPLICATION

1. Hold the unit by the handle in a vertical position.

2. The electrodes and the skin of the horse must be wet. Use EKG gel or saltwater. If the connection is not wet the transmitter will not function

3. Press the HEARTCHECK against the girth  area of the horse.   Slide the unit around the horse’s girth to place the lower electrode of the transmitter at the elbow.

4. Hold the unit firmly against the horse, do not move it.

5. Start your V-MAX EHRM Monitor receiver. If you are using one of the "auto-on’ models, wait for the watch to trigger.

You can "pre-trigger’ the receiver watch by wetting the transmitter electrodes and rub both electrodes between your thumb and finger. The display will show 0 and the heart symbol will flash.

6. The HR will be displayed within 10 to 15 seconds. A CORRECT HR will be displayed within 15 seconds AFTER the initial reading.

7. The watch must be within 3 feet of the Transmitter to obtain the heart rate.

AFTER USE;

You MUST clean and dry the transmitter.
